Hey KapFam! Let’s talk about cleaning care instructions for the cotton surgical caps we offer on our Site.
Our Kaps are made with 100% cotton fabric and these tips will keep your surgical caps looking fabulous for years to come. Cotton is easy to maintain when you follow these simple care instructions. It will keep your cotton products looking and feeling beautiful wash after wash.
As always, hand-washing is the best and most gentle way to wash your clothes. If you choose to hand wash your caps, do so in a clean sink or tub. Fill the sink with warm water and add a mild detergent of your choice. Place the cap in the warm water, agitate it gently by hand and then allow it to soak for the amount of time indicated on the detergent packaging.
To rinse the items, drain the tub and then refill it with cool water. Gently agitate the caps by hand until soap bubbles no longer come out of them. You may need to repeat this process several times to remove all the soap. Squeeze excess water out of the caps but do not wring it out, as this will cause wrinkling. After you’ve removed the excess water, lay them flat to dry or place them in the dryer on a low or no-heat setting to prevent shrinking.
When hand-washing is not an option, you may use your washing machine with caution. If you choose to wash cottons in your washing machine, set it to cold water and wash on the delicate cycle. Hot water shrinks cotton. You can either line-dry your caps afterward to prevent shrinking in the dryer, or you can use the dryer on a low heat setting.
To prevent your caps from fading, use cold water and turn the caps inside out.
If you need to iron your caps due to excess wrinkling, iron on high heat while fabric is slightly damp. Use a steamer to remove wrinkles from AfriKaps.
*Note that ironing can usually be avoided by air drying or removing the caps immediately from the drying machine.
